The Transport Skiff

Tatooine has a reputation for being insanely hot, but you really never understand how hot the place is until you get there. The air rippled with heat and we desperately needed to get out of the heat. We had tracked Jabba's thug all the way to Mos Espa from Anchorhead. We didn't know why he was here, but we figured we could bring down our mark here if we were careful.

A good blaster at yourside will take care of most tough spots, but when you show up to a cantina to find out that the mark you've been hunting has friends...a lot of friends...it comes down to who has the most blasters. Today, Jabba's goons had more blasters than we did. We spotted our mark, and the thieving little Rodian was sitting in a cantina alcove with 12 of the biggest, nastiest Gamorreans and Weequays you could imagine.

There was one chance. If we could manage to sneak by them and get into the back room of the cantina, we might be able to set up an ambush if nothing went wrong. But it did.

Unfortunately, half way across the cantina, a squad of stormtroopers came in to hassle the entertainers and look for rebel spies, and that's just what we were. Two of us were wanted by the Empire and the Squad Leader of this crew of troopers had our number. They didn't even ask our names. The place erupted in blaster fire as they tried to take us down. We attracted the attention of our Rodian mark and everything went wrong. The next thing we knew, we were headed out the back door of the cantina, running for our lives!

Lady luck smiled on us that afternoon! We burst out of the back door of the cantina and what did we see? A brand new transport skiff just sitting there, waiting to be used. It was probably the Rodian's (because Jabba owned the skiff trade on this planet) and now it was ours. Luckily, we had a smuggler with us who could hotwire the thing and off we went.

The Lava Flea

"What's that noise?"

"What noise?"

Both of the miners waited. It had been a long day of operating mining droids to haul in lava and after a day at the lava pits, your mind played tricks on you.

"I heard it again..."

"WHAT? What did you hear?"

"I heard a noise."

"We work in a mining facility. There are LOTS of noises. You're just tired".

The odd little Mustafarian looked back at his shift-boss. He knew he heard something and his mind wasn't playing tricks on him.

Suddenly, there was an avalanche behind them. Both of the miners dove to get out of the way of falling rocks, jumping to the left and avoiding the right. An avalanche on one side and a searing hot river of lava on your right made for some of the harshest working conditions.

Out of a hole on the embankment behind them came four huge insects, bounding down the hill and straight for the lava! They looked like...like....giant fleas! Four huge fleas popped out of the hole, bounced down the hill and right across the lava! It was a mother flea and three of her hatchlings. She had released them from their nest and now they needed food!

"Run! Run! They are baby lava fleas and their mother thinks we're food!

"Get outta here!

As the two miners scrambled to get away from the hungry younglings, the miner looked at his shift-boss as they ran away, "I told you I heard something!"

"Shaddup! The next thing you're going to tell me is that you want to be riding one of these things!"
