Vandaag werd er een nieuwe Star Wars film aangekondigd - Star Wars Rogue Squadron en als Starwars Fan was ik wel verrast 😉
Voor degene die niet weten wat Rogue Squadron was/is in het Star Wars Universum.
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron gaat over het bekende starfighter eskader in het Star Wars-universum, dat we uiteraard ook kennen van de X-wings. Ze stonden onder leiding van Wedge Antilles of Luke Skywalker. Tijdens de Galactic Civil War was de Rogue Squadron meer dan één keer doorslaggevend in de strijd tegen het Galactic Empire.
Rogue Squadron werd voor het eerst geintroduceerd in The Empire Strikes Back waarbij Luke Skywalker (rang: commander) leiding gaf aan Rogue Squadron met snowspeeders in the Battle of Hoth.
Na ESB (Empire Strikes Back) kwam Rogue Squadron vooral voor in de de boeken met name in de X Wing Series waaronder

It is set at the beginning of the New Republic era of the Star Wars Expanded Universe and centers on the creation of a new Rogue Squadron by legendary Rebel Alliance pilot Wedge Antilles. As the first novel in the series, it introduces the primary character, Corran Horn, as well as a host of other characters, including Mirax Terrik, Erisi Dlarit, and Tycho Celchu. The novel focuses on the training and early development of the squadron, as well as the characters and their relationships (primarily Erisi's romantic interest in Corran, and Mirax and Corran's mutual romantic interest). The novel culminates in a daring attack on the Imperial stronghold of Borleias, the first step in an invasion of the capital world Coruscant.
