Live summit Atlanta

I was at the community summit in Atlanta yesterday and I wanted to tell you about what I experienced. I am in Panama City Beach for the week on business and my business partner and I decided to fly up for the afternoon to attend this thing. My partner is in his 40’s, has children, and is quite successful. He has zero exposure to MMO’s or any computer games for that matter but is fascinated by them. He wanted to go meet the people that play them and see how the developers interacted with the players.

We arrived at about 2pm and I was able to chat with Thunderheart for about a half hour before he got mobbed by people. This guy is a class act. Very nice, eager to answer any questions, and even took the time to explain in a little detail why there will never be pre-cu servers. As much as I would like to play pre-cu I understand why and I have to agree with him now, it would not be in anyone’s (player or SOE’s) best interest.

The rest of the panel was Blix, Rogue5, Julio Torres, and someone else. Let me start by saying that my partner who has no knowledge of this game, couldn’t care less and doesn’t know anything about the changes, said that he would never buy himself or his children a Sony Online Entertainment product based on what he saw.

We’ll start with Blix. He came off as about the most arrogant person that I have ever seen. He was patronizing, angry, and immature. When someone mentioned something about the upcoming changes looking a lot like WoW he actually was one step from getting in a yelling match with them. Once calmed down he leaned back in his chair with his arms crossed like a child who didn’t get their way.

Julio was much younger than I expected. I mean in his 20’s young. He was nice enough to everyone but kept spewing the same PR stuff that everyone has heard a million times. At one point someone asked if he could answer a question without using the words “Star Warsy” or “Iconic.” It was like watching a White House press conference when he would field a question. The player would ask a question and he would praddle on about how it’s more “Star Warsy” now and how it was too slow and complicated before.

Rogue5, seemed personally okay and more in control than Blix but still came off as very arrogant and put out because he had to be there. My favorite part about Rouge5 was when a player asked, “How many people have to quit before you bring back pre-cu?” His answer was, “There will never be a roll back.” The player responded, “So you would rather see the game wither and die than roll it back? Rogue5 responds, “There will never be a roll back.”

Of course when they let Thunderheart speak he was happy, helpful, and acted like he gave a crap…the others, not in the least.

My partner a complete outsider decided that Blix needed to be fired, Rogue 5 needed to learn how to speak to people like they were customers not inferiors, and Julio needed to run for congress. He also told me that if we were ever in a room full of our customers and when one suggested something the room burst into applause for 30 seconds, that suggestion needs to be taken seriously and implemented as soon as possible, not responded to with: “There will never be a roll back”

Er zat ook nog een hoop dingen bij wat misschien wel erg gaaf wordt:
This information was taken from the last summit...
Originaly posted in the "Game discussion" on the Official SWGalaxies forums.

Publish 28 is delayed one week to add in tracking for the PBS and add in short term clone sickness healable by Entertainers.

Publish 29 will have 3-4 vet rewards and 3 year anniversary gifts. Character transfer improvements, non-combat targetting enhancements which will fix some combat trouble too.

30 - summer

jedi and bh expertise systems and story missions
collision system (including jumping, evading, and better LOS)
better GCW base system
revamps to faction theme parks
quest journal will contain BH mission info
quests for lvl 42-44
character transfer enchancements part 2
character appearance improvements (no significant details)

31 - summer

smuggler and officer expertise systems and story missions
smuggling
pvp ranks and rewards
pvp in-game leaderboards
quests for 45-50
appearance improvements phase 2

32 - fall

trader expertise and story missions
animation improvements
combat improvements (optimization of existing code)
Nym's themepark revamp
51-55 quests
new dungeon including 70-90 level content, will change swg world as we know it (their words, not mine) (will be talked about at E3)

33 - winter

medic and commando expertise and story missions
space pvp enhancements
battlegrounds (phase 1)
56-61 quests

34 - winter

spy and entertainer expertise and story missions
battlegrounds (phase 2)
heavy weapons phase 2
62-67 quests

Combat for entertainers is by no means guaranteed, and if it isn't right for us, it may just not happen. there was large support for making entertainer and trader secondary professions. they will take that feedback into consideration.

I just wanted to emphasize something that was said there, in which also, was written the the information I previously posted.

"character appearance improvements (no significant details)"

This has been then said by Helios or Rogue5 to be just graphic improvements, more detailed, better colours; and hopefully.., smoothing them out.., as to help the general increase of lag that the SWG engine causes on some boards..

This is NOT something to do with Image Designers.., there are no plans for new image designing changes on that feature.., it is indeed simply.. Graphic improvements.. (or so they say)

Let us hope though.. for the best.

ore news about information on the summit..

This time exclusevly for Pilots :
(Taken out from a person who posted on the Pilot profession forums, of the official SWGalaxies forum boards)

Here are some highlights that we'll see in the coming PUBS this year;
We are getting gunboats! The factioned GB's you currently see in game (the NPC ones) will be player owned. (Neutrals are getting the Black Sun GB) They are finishing up on the interior's now and are almost done.
New single fighters are down the road a ways with no current timeline. (They want to focus on bugs and imbalancing! COOL!)
They are giving us faction control over the space sectors as part of the great upcoming GCW improvements. We fight (PVP and PVE) to control or overtake space sectors!
Seperate from the sector control GCW stuff, they are giving us "Epic Battle Zones" which will most likely occur in existing DS and Kessel. (With NPC cap shipS)
I asked about player/guild owned hangers. Helios said "Maybe" with a wry smile on his face. He said the same thing when I asked about land combat vehicles.....
And I saved the best for last;

Player controlled cap ships will not be included in any plans in the coming year, HOWEVER, this will be - Boardable capital ships for the GCW!
Let me explain; You hail the SD or vette similar to the space stations now, they give you a series of missions to perform in order to EARN the ABILITY to BOARD THE CAPITAL SHIP.

When on the capital ship, lets say the SD, you can accept missions from different people doing different things. You have the ability to act as a member of the crew and MAN a TURRET on the CAPITAL SHIP, or take missions from the Captain, or Darth Vader, who may be on the bridge. You can even take duties from inside the CAP ships and launch your ship from the CAP SHIP!!!

We will also get boardable space stations!
