Player-versus-Player Bounty Hunting
Here are some of the details about the upcoming P layer-versus-Player (PvP) Bounty Hunting system that will be added as a feature to Star Wars Galaxies in Publish 28 (No publish date has been announced yet).
How it Works: Players who have declared as "Special Forces" with a Faction Recruiter to engage in PvP combat will be able to take a "bounty" out on another player who has killed them in combat. For example:
* An Imperial player kills a Rebel player in PvP combat.
* A window will pop up asking the Rebel if he or she wants to take out a bounty on the Imperial player.
* If the Rebel says "Yes" and takes out the bounty, the bounty is effective immediately.
* At any point after the bounty is out, any bounty hunter can target the Imperial player and use the bounty check ability to see if that player has an active bounty.
(Press the Bounty Check button or use the /bountyCheck command in the spatial chat window)
* Once the bounty check shows the Bounty Hunter that the Imperial player has an active bounty, a ten minute timer begins.
* For the duration of the 10 minute timer, only the bounty hunter and the Imperial character are open for full PvP combat.
Where the Bounty Comes from
* After you are killed you will have the option of placing a bounty on your attacker.
* This will deduct the specified amount from your bank account or from your cash on-hand and add the bounty to your killer.
* Bounties placed on a player will be cumulative, so if multiple bounties are placed on a player, their overall bounty will increase.
If the Bounty Hunter kills his/her target within 10 minutes:
• The Bounty Hunter collects the reward.
• ALL bounties on the defeated player are cleared.
If the Bounty Hunter DOES NOT kill his/her target within 10 minutes:
• The bounty remains active on the player who has the "Death Mark" or bounty.
• The bounty hunter who failed in their mission must wait 1 hour before they can try to attack their target again.
Death Mark Details
* Successful use of /bountyCheck on a target will enable combat between the bounty hunter and the target regardless of other PvP settings: they could be neutral, of opposing factions or even members of the same faction.
o If you are declared as a Neutral (No PvP or PvE factional combat) and have a bounty on your head, a bounty hunter can do a bounty check and try to kill your character.
o If you are declared as a Combatant (PvE factional combat only) and have a bounty on your head, a bounty hunter can do a bounty check and try to kill your character.
o If the bounty hunter and their target are the same faction, the bounty hunter can still kill their target.
* A single player can have multiple bounties on them.
* If a player has multiple bounties on them, the Bounty Hunter will collect all of the bounty rewards their target has.
* If the bounty hunter fails to kill their target in 10 minutes, they will not collect the bounty and the target will still have all of their active bounties.
* If a bounty hunter kills you, you can take a bounty out on the bounty hunter.
* Players who try to log out to escape a bounty hunter will find that their character will stay in the world. Their character will be killed, the bounty hunter will collect their reward and the player who logged out will lose the chance to take a bounty out on the bounty hunter who killed their character.
/bountyCheck details
* A bounty hunter has a 1 hour cool down after getting a successful check for a bounty.
For example, a Bounty Hunter can run through a city checking for player and NPC bounties. If the bounty hunter finds a target with a bounty, they won't be able to use the bounty check command for 1 hour.
* /bountyCheck does not separate player and NPC bounties. There will be a 1 hour cool-down for the /bountyCheck ability regardless if the positive bounty check comes back for a player or an NPC.
If you use /bountyCheck and find someone with a bounty, then you can't use the ability again for an hour (it doesn't matter whether you use it on an NPC or a player and doesn't matter if you collect the bounty or not).
