Player Event Perks

Every week there are a many player-run events held across the galaxy. These events can be anything from PvP tourneys and role-playing events to murder mysteries or dance parties. To help players more easily run these events, the Event Team has been working on some special tools and perks that will soon appear on Test Center. Be aware that some options and perks may change between Test Center and live.

The perks are a collection of temporary decorations and games that can be placed within a player city (with zoning rights) or in wilderness areas in the same way a scout camp can be placed.

To purchase an event perk, simply head to your nearest hotel and speak to the promoter inside. Pay the associated credits, and you will get deeds for your perks. There are no faction, class or race restrictions on purchases but you are limited to five deeds in your possession at a time. Once you have purchased a perk, a timer is set. Once that timer runs out the deed and/or the placed perk will disappear.

The Event Promoters can be found in Hotels at the following locations:

Placement Rules

Perks can be placed in a city, if you have zoning rights. They can also be placed in wilderness areas in much the same way as a scout camp is placed. Because these are temporary, they do not cost lots, nor do they add to your city maintenance costs. You will be limited in how many perks can be placed in proximity to each other. Once you place a perk, you will not be able to pick it up or move it.

Duration

Perks are designed for use at a single player event. This means all the deeds and the subsequently placed perks are temporary. The time is not yet set, but will be made known by the promoter. The timer begins to count down from the time the deed is purchased. Once the timer expires, the deeds and/or perks will clean themselves up and disappear.

The Perks

The available perks are divided into the following categories:

* Decorations - A static item is a single object. A placed, non-interactive flag or ship, etc.
* Venues - These are POI style theaters that utilize a number of items to create a larger decorative setting.
* Games and Game Supplies - These are droids and other utilitarian devices that players can use to run specific types of events such as swoop races or lotteries.
* Personnel - These are special NPCs that serve specific purposes.

Decorations

Static Objects

Static Objects are single item decorations. Players are able to purchase deeds that will allow the placement of a variety of static decorative objects. Each deed places one item only. Please see the promoters for a complete list of perks.

Flag Game

This item is to allow players to run "Capture the Flag" style events. When placed, this flag object appears in the world in its neutral state. Using a radial menu the owner may chooses how long the event will last and then starts the game. Once "Start" has been chosen overt players may utilize the "Capture Flag" option to switch the flag to their side's banner. After a player captures the flag, the flag cannot be captured again for 15 to 30 seconds. The flag tracks how long it is in each state (Rebel/Imperial) and at the end of the event displays the flag that has the highest time. Players on the winning side who are nearby will also have a holo-emote activated to show who won that round. There will also be a system message sent to everyone within 256meters. Once a match is over, the owner can reset the game and begin again until the flag expires.

Treasure Chest

This is simply a chest that can be dropped anywhere in the world. The owner can then place objects in the chest. Anyone may come by and take one item from the chest. This will be useful for scavenger hunts and role-play events.

Shuttle Beacon

This beacon calls down a shuttle (decorative only, not useable for travel) on your current location. The owner can select from one of four styles of called ships which are: Lambda Shuttle, Shuttle, Transport and "Theed Style" Transport. Upon using the Landing Beacon the ship will land. The shuttle will stay until you use the beacon again and the shuttle will fly away. This will primarily be used for role-playing events.

Race Droid

Once this droid is placed, you can program it with a series of waypoints. Anyone can then speak to the droid and be timed through the waypoints. The current fastest time will be saved by the droid. The droid will call out each racer's finishing time so race organizers can record everyone's scores for competition.

Scavenger Hunt Droid

This droid allows for a player to organize and run a scavenger hunt where players find various items and return them to the droid for points. The list of items to be scavenged is generated by dragging items onto the droid who looks at them for reference. Once the objects are recorded and the game is started players will be able to speak to the droid and ask what the target items are.

Once activated, anyone can show an item to the droid. If the item template matches one of the item templates on the list of things the droid wants, the player scores a point. They can only turn in an item one time. They can only get credit for each type of item once. The winner is the first person to find all the items on the list.

The droid can be accessed at any time during the event by anyone involved with the event to view the current leader. This data is also available to everyone.

Lottery Droid

This droid allows players to securely have a lottery drawing. To run a lottery after placing the droid, the player sets a time period (from an hour to 7 days), a ticket price and a payout percentage. These settings can be viewed by anyone after the lottery has started. Once the player chooses "START" the settings cannot be altered. The only exception is that the owner can add more money to the pot at any time.

When a player comes up to the droid they use a radial option to register for the lottery. They will be given a pop-up window detailing the cost the cost of registration, current jackpot, duration and the payout percentage. If the player chooses to enter, the droid will deduct the money from their bank and add the player to the droid's contestant list.

At the specified end of the contest the droid will automatically choose one of the entrants randomly and wire their winnings (based on the payout percentage of total ticket sales) into their bank. The droid's owner will be wired their cut of the jackpot as well. Anyone may click on the droid after a winner has been chosen to see who the winner was and what they were paid.

Juke Box

This is the only item, so far, that can be placed in a house. When activated it will play the chosen music track for anyone who enters the house.

Faction Recruiter

When the deed is used, a recruiter is spawned. These recruiters will act as normal recruiters.

NPC Actor

The deed allows the player to spawn an NPC of a specified race. The player will be able to dress the NPC, name it and specify a "bark" similar to a vendor. The bark only fires if the NPC detects the presence of a player. The NPC is of course invulnerable and is primarily used for role-playing events. Be aware that any clothing you give the NPC will not be returned to you at any time.
